A Heartfelt Thank You: A Reflection on Our 2023 Eid ul Adha Journey

As Salaamu Alaikum, a Heartfelt Thank You for your support for our Tanzanian Eid ul Adha Qurbani/Udhiyyah program. May Allah accept all of our efforts and forgive our sins.

Our 1444AH/2023CE  Qurbani/Udhiyyah effort was an overwhelming success this year, Alhamdulilah, again, thank you.

A special line for children to receive their portion, Alhamdulillah!

As we look back on our Eid Ul Adha celebration this year, we cannot help but be filled with gratitude and a profound sense of community. The Qurbani/ Udhiyah Tanzania event, an annual highlight in the Al Rayyan Islamic Society's calendar, was a remarkable success this year. With your generous support, we surpassed our goal, making this year the most impactful yet.

Since 1440AH/2020CE, Al Rayyan has, with hope for Allah’s pleasure, facilitated the collection of Qurbani/Udhiyah donations, distributing the meat from the Eid Ul Adha sacrifice to the local Muslim community of Buyuni, Tanzania, and the surrounding area. Each year, we strive to reach more individuals and families, and each year with the permission of Allah, your unwavering support has helped us to do so. This year, we made significant strides in our collective endeavor.

In 1444/2023, we witnessed an unprecedented outpouring of generosity. We managed, with Allah permission, to sacrifice 44 sheep, 206 goats, as well as 4 cows, which allowed us to distribute the meat to an astonishing 3000 Muslims. This achievement represents not only an increase in the number of animals sacrificed but also a significant expansion of the number of people we were able to reach, compared to our previous years.

Our journey since 1440/2020 has been marked by steady growth. We started with 75 animals sacrificed in 2020, followed by increases to 125 in 2021, and 150 in 2022. This consistent growth in contributions and community impact year after year is truly heartening. It demonstrates the unwavering commitment of our donors and the power of collective action.

This accomplishment is not just about numbers, however. It is about the fulfillment of religious obligations and the strengthening of our community ties. It is about the joy we were able to bring to the families who received the meat. It's about reinforcing the values we hold dear as members of the Al Rayyan Islamic Society: compassion, generosity, and the commitment to helping our brothers and sisters in need.

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to all who contributed to this year's Qurbani / Udhiyah. Without your generous donations and unwavering support, we could not have achieved this significant milestone. Your kindness and dedication have directly impacted the lives of thousands in our community, and for that, we are grateful.

Looking forward, we are excited and optimistic about the potential of next year's Eid Ul Adha celebration. With your continued support, we are confident that we can reach even more individuals and make a bigger difference in the community.

May Allah bless you for your kindness, make it a removal of hardships for you in this life, and a shade for you in the next life.

Thank you once again for your continued support.

Together, we grow stronger.

As Salaamu Alaikum,

John Cason and Diego El-Amin
